Local Sailing - public launches located NORTH of TWC:

Cook's Bay Park a.k.a. Clarendon Beach Park, Keswick - Lake Simcoe (wind SW)
map
1 hour North of Toronto; big open bay with weeds close to shore - take a weed fin or stay home! Confused chop due in part to heavy boat traffic; large grassy rigging area, restrooms, fast food nearby. Check out also Willow Beach, Beaverton. Good for anything SW through N.

Minet's Point, Barrie - Lake Simcoe (wind NW)
map
1 hour North of Toronto. Parking, grassy rigging area, washroom facilities. Home of the Barrie Windriders.

Lake Simcoe (wind NW)
Check out Roches Point, Willow Beach (Maui North works on a NE), Beaverton. Good for anything SW through N.

Sibbald Point, Jackson's Point - Lake Simcoe (wind NW)
map
75 minutes north of Toronto; Great NW bump and jump. Steep swells if it blows, sideshore launch, portside jumping. Daily fee or season pass to get into park. Rig at the Boat Launch area and carry your kit behind the building to launch at the point. Also good on a North, or even North-East.

Sunset Point Park - Georgian Bay / Lake Huron (winds W,NW,N,NE,E)
map
In Collingwood, best for the prevailing northwest winds. At 20-25 knots, the waves easily get to six feet - and when the wind holds for a few days, mast-high waves have been experienced. Nice huge grassy area but a tough launch: off concrete blocks and and pebbly beach, over slippery shale bottom and look out for boulders! Fabulous in W-NW: big chop & waves. Also a lot of local freestylers.

Wasaga Beach, Allenwood Beach - Georgian Bay / Lake Huron (winds W,NW)
map
1.5 hour North of Toronto. Both Wasaga Beach and Allenwood Beach are good for all ability levels; beginner on light wind days to expert-only on high wind days. There is no shorebreak, but the waves can be tricky for inexperienced sailors on the sandbars close to shore. The swells on the outside can reach almost mast-high after a day or two of good wind. Lots of parking between sand dunes - Provincial Park fees apply.

Wilcox Lake, Richmond Hill (wind W)
map
Just East off Yonge Street, a small lake with warmer water and patches of heavy weeds. Best for strong West wind, often swirly due to housing, trees and bulging terrain surrounding the lake. Launch from Sunset Beach Park next to the local Canoe Club. Grassy rigging area, park your vehicle in free parking lot just a minute away on the other side of the road (drop you gear off at launch site first).
